I have been working in the design industry for the last 5 years since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art. I work as a Design Thinking Specialist based in London focusing on 'human-centred' design for both physical and digital product development. As a product designer in both fields I focus on using human-centred data and analysis to validate new products through the application of Design Thinking.

Accelogress is a software development company that builds bespoke digital solutions for clients. I was hired to work with one of their clients to understand and map out the underlying problems with how their current system worked. To do this I used a range of qualitative research methods to build up an understanding of the system. At the end of the work I developed a brand new system that mitigated the majority of the pain points which Accelogress then crafted into a new software for them to use. This solution is now going through its implementation stages and will look to be launched in the coming year.
Equity Hub (EQH) came to me with a simple idea of making the investment process for start-ups and investors easier and more transparent by creating an online platform. What transpired was a whole ground up re-building of their business model and value proposition to gain LOIs from potential clients to gain investment through a mid-fidelity prototype.
Head hunted by the founders of Mous to fulfil a new role as their new Product and Innovation Manager.
Whilst based in China I was invited by the CTO of Mous to assist their product development team to accelerate the delivery of some of their delayed products.
In 2017 I co-founded Whistle SAR Ltd which was a search and rescue company that created both hardware and software for the use of drones in mountain search and rescue. The technology was able to locate lost hikers via their mobile phones in mountain ranges without the mobile phone having any cellular service. This first response technology we developed is still being tested with Scottish Mountain Rescue and is being modified for the Department of Transport (DfT) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Alongside the company, I was able to work with Scotland Fire & Rescue to rethink and redevelop their first responder service for their 2021 vision so they could implement Unmanned Vehicles into their service seamlessly.
I was hired by the Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) to analyse the company's new education service - "The Beer Academy" - which offered education courses in beer and cider. The goal of the project was to map out the user experience of the current educational courses at The Beer Academy and help IBD restructure their courses to be more valuable and more attractive to their students. Using mainly qualitative research methods I redeveloped the structure of the courses and deliver a list of recommendations to the company that have currently been implemented.
With the intricate knowledge I had of IBD and it's Beer Academy, I was posted to China to develop an understanding of how the courses would need to change in order to be successful in a Chinese market. This involved developing an intricate network of brewers and distillers within China and doing deep sessions with industry experts to understand both the appetite for IBD's courses and the value they could bring to the Chinese market. The result of the project was a redevelopment of the current course offerings to a more Chinese-centric set of courses that focused on the needs of the domestic Chinese market.
